People assumed the blue ribbon logo for featured restaurants meant they were paid sponsor spots. I changed that logo to represent the establishment's pledge, the "MI restaurant promise" ( restaurants that promise to follow best practices).
One participant asked why outside seating had a logo, and the other highlighted protocols did not. I emphasized outdoor options based on the CDC's risk rating, but I would do an A/B test with different protocol displays if time allowed.
All the users I talked to mentioned this could be for more than the Grand Rapids area and assumed a level of automation with the reviews I could not create on my own with Wix. 3 out of 4 users also suggested I add the ability to upload a photo and offer search filter options. The mental model of a review site’s capability was strong enough to make my Wix workarounds and limitations off-putting.
Only 1 participant mentioned she was glad the reviews would be scrutinized against Yelp/Google reviews to ensure their accuracy; the other 3 did not say anything about that process. This would be a time-consuming process and goes against presumptions about review sites.
I used Wix’s “Get Feedback” to have participants
